Here at Blue Fox Farms, however, we’ve been taking advantage of our rain days by teaching plenty of “dry lessons”. Dry lessons are lessons focused on horsemanship done from the ground. They can include anything from parts of the horse and tack for beginners to application of first aid, medications, and wrapping for more advanced riders and horse-people. Horsemanship is very important to us here at BFF and this rain has provided us an excellent opportunity to teach it and the utilization of these lessons also provides students and clients alike the opportunity to come to the barn and visit their favorite hooved friends. Last week, Lulu Barger learned parts of the horse with the help of the lovely Stormy. The lesson included post-its, glitter glue and a marker or two. Never a dull day here at Blue Fox Farms!!

Back in the Saddle

While many of our friends and peers in the horse industry in Sourthern California were still waiting for their rings to dry out, we at Blue Fox Farms were lucky enough to have a dry upper ring. We were back riding on Saturday, as soon as the rain finally gave up. The horses were definitely feeling a little fresh, but they all were on their best behavior and tried to contain all that pent up energy! We can't really blame them, seeing as their spent an entire week in their stalls or on the walker. Once again, we are so lucky to have a covered eurociser. It made life much easier getting the horses back to work. Not only did they not lose their conditioning during the rain, but they also got to get some exercise so they weren't complete loose cannons once the riding began again. Now lets just hope the rain gives us a little break. C'mon Mother Nature.....lets take at least a month off ;-)

Banquet Time!

This past Saturday, Blue Fox Farms attended the GSDHJA Annual Awards Banquet at The Bahia Hotel in Mission Bay. Though we are all fully aware that the rain has been long overdue, it does make the equestrian life a little difficult. We are so lucky, however, to have the new addition of a cover for our equisizer. We want to thank Bryan Keith, Nancy and Kenny Nordstrom, and everyone who helped make the cover a possibility. Our horses are all snuggled in their stalls, with their blankets on, but everyone gets to go for a good walk today and all week! Though we're not fans of the rain, this new addition is sure making life easier :-)

Everything at the barn is surviving the storm well.
